The hubbie had two very special guests visiting from Korea so we thought a meal at Blue Hill at Stone Barns would be the perfect place to show them a little taste of New York State. 30 miles up the Hudson River in Pocantico Hills, New York, on the old Rockefeller estate, the 45 minute drive was actually really quite nice. We arrived about an hour early for our 1pm reservation, and had a good amount of time to walk around the farm, see some vegetable and flower gardens, as well as some animals at Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture. They have an amazing Blue Hill Café with light snacks, fresh baked goods, and locally grown produce for when you just want to grab a bite to eat. Blue Hill Market is also a really nice shop there with a very nice selection of products.

A meal at Blue Hill at Stone Barns is a one of a kind experience. It is the most beautiful kind of experience. There are no menus here. Instead, guests are offered the multi-taste Grazing, Rooting, Pecking menu featuring the best offerings from the field and market that month. We ooh'ed and ah'ed at very dish, as they were truly works of art—not just the food, but also the presentation and service. They took the time to explain how the dishes were made, as well as the processes. Since it was a beautiful day, they even took us outside to the courtyard in the back for a little barbecue of beet hotdogs and ale. Be careful not to get too full on it though!—there are too many delicious dishes to be savored. There is a reason why the Obamas frequent Blue Hill; such a rare and memorable meal is hard to come by.
